We will keep your money and Bitcoin securely stored, but only you are able to fully protect your account access against intruders. If your account details are stolen and used to make cryptocurrency transactions on your behalf - there is not much we can do after, because all cryptocurrency transactions are final and do not have chargeback capabilities. That's why we have compiled this list of safety measures to help you keep the account safe.
1. Login access protection
When you create an account with us, we ask you to create a 4-digit passcode. Don't reveal it to anyone and treat it as your card PIN number. You can also enable biometric security (Face ID, Touch ID) and use that instead of a passcode when logging in. Mode will never ask you for your passcode!
2. Keep your email secure
Mode will communicate with you over email. If someone steals your email account access and tries to impersonate you or enters the associated account - your funds are at risk.
3. Money transfers
We can only process Sterling or Euro withdrawals to bank accounts that are in your name and that have been used before to deposit with us. It means that intruders will not be able to cash out any funds to their third-party accounts.
4. Cryptocurrency transfers
When withdrawing Bitcoin you will be asked to verify the transfer with your biometric data (or passcode) and one-time passcode sent to your verified email. Before sending any Bitcoin amount to companies or people you don't know, make sure they are not scamming you. We have gathered a list of the most common online scams and how to identify them and protect yourself. Always keep in mind that once you send a Bitcoin transaction, it is impossible to reverse it.
